Pulse start metal halide lamps are the newest technology in high intensity discharge lamps. The upside on a pulse start metal halide is time that it takes to light the lamps. What is meant by uptime is how long that lamp takes to come back on after being shut down or coming in from a fresh approach. These lamps are used in a variety of fixtures from high bays, wall packs, canopy lights, floodlights, street lighting, and a whole lot more. Some of the most common wattages used in pulse starts are 250 W, 400 W, 750 W, and 1000 watt. These lamps are controlled by several pulse start metal halide ballasts including an M35, or M155 these are specific towards this lamp and have to be wattage specific. We suggest making sure that you're using the right base and ballast when selecting these lamps. Pulse start bulbs tend to have a higher lumen level than regular metal halide's using less wattage with brighter output. I.e. a 400 W Metal halide will have approximately the same light output as a 320 W pulse start metal halide saving energy. There are multiple of burning positions these lamps can be put into including up and universal which would be application-specific. Also these bulbs come in clear and coated for different light tones. If you're having problems selecting the correct lamp for your ballast please contact us with the ballast number or lamp number specific to the product you're looking for.
