  • Consider the number of lamps. This type of lighting comes with options of lamps such as 2, 4, 6, and 8 lamps which help you get the correct right lumen output for the space.
  • Decide between Miro 4 or white reflectors. This is a matter of appearance for most people. Both types of reflectors do the same thing, essentially which is to reflect the upward light down to the floor, but Miro 4 will give a better percentage of lighting reflected than white.

DEFINITIONS FOR T5 LIGHT FIXTURES

  • Tombstones or Lamp Sockets: Where the lamps are twisted into the fixture to make the connection to the ballast wires.
  • Un-shunted: This is the type of tombstones or lamp sockets that are used in a T5HO fixture.
  • Miro 4 Reflectors: Highly polished full mirror aluminum material used to reflect 95 % of the light hitting it.
  • White Reflectors: white powder-coated aluminum is used to reflect 87 % of the light hitting the reflector.
  • I-bay Lighting fixture: usually a less sturdy way to manufacture lights using as little metal as possible and to connect the reflectors to the top and the bottom of the I, usually a cheaper fixture than the full body lighting fixture. with an I-bay fixture there is no way to mount a lens to the bottom and it can only be used with a wire guard for protection of the lamps.
  • Full Body fixture: Way of manufacturing lighting fixtures that encloses the entire lighting fixture on top, helps reduce dust on the and reflectors. This fixture is more expensive to produce, more durable and able to encapsulate the lamps with a lens.
  • Ballast Warranty: the length of the warrant on the ballast for a T5HO lighting fixture is usually 5 yrs. These warranties are Manufacturer warranties and are handled through the MFG of the ballast itself by calling their warranty hotline phone number on the ballast and not our company, although we would be glad to help if necessary.
  • Emergency Ballast: specifically a rather large battery used to control one or more lamps in case of a power outage up to 90 minutes in most cases.
  • HID Equivalent: Defined as the overall output of that lighting fixture in reference to older HID wattages.
  • 54 Watts: the total wattage per lamp on a T5HO lighting fixture that outputs approximately 5000 lumens.
