Indoor basketball courts often feature high-gloss hardwood floors. Without the right fixtures, these floors act like mirrors, creating dangerous "hot spots" of glare.
The Solution: Use LED high bays specifically designed with glare-reducing shields or frosted lenses.
The Advantage: Modern LEDs have a lower Unified Glare Rating (UGR). Instead of one concentrated point of light, they distribute lumens evenly, preventing players from being "blinded" when they look up for a rebound.

The type of light fixture you use also plays a significant role in reducing glare – sport lights and floodlights are some of the most commonly used options. 3. Optimize Fixture Placement for Uniformity

6. Understand LUX Levels for Different Tiers
An important factor to focus on with basketball court lighting is the LUX level – otherwise known as the measure of the intensity of the lights. Light intensity is measured in LUX (1 footcandle ≈ 10.76 LUX). Your requirements depend entirely on the level of play and whether the games are being filmed. LUX levels for basketball lighting are determined by light fixture type, the number of lighting fixtures, the wattage levels for each fixture and placement. There are two standards of LUX levels for basketball arena lights, determined by whether or not the game will be televised.

Televised events – mainly professional basketball games – require 2,000 LUX levels to properly ensure the lighting is up to standard.
