What Makes Vapor Proof Lighting Different?

Not every wet-rated fixture is a true vapor proof light fixture. Vapor tight LED fixtures are fully sealed with heavy-duty rubber gaskets and impact-resistant lenses, typically polycarbonate or fiberglass, that lock out moisture, dust, chemical vapors, and non-combustible gases. That sealed construction is what earns them a UL wet location listing and, on select models, IP65, IP66, or IP67 ratings and NEMA 4X certification.

Compare that to a standard damp-rated fixture, which can only handle condensation or indirect moisture exposure. In environments like food processing plants, car washes, or cold storage facilities, that's simply not enough.

Do vapor tight LED fixtures work in cold storage or walk-in freezer applications?

Yes, and they're one of the better choices for cold storage environments. The sealed construction prevents moisture infiltration during temperature cycling, which is a primary cause of premature fixture failure in cold storage. Operating temperature ratings vary by model, so check the spec sheet.

Can vapor tight fixtures be linked or daisy-chained for row-mount installations?
