Dock Lights

When choosing an LED loading dock light, sufficient illumination inside the trailer is the first consideration. Equally important is the durability, reliability, ambient temperature range, and availability of other features such as flexible arms or dimming ability if desired. Our selection of both LED and traditional dock lights and arms will meet all your unique material handling needs. These lights are also well-suited for task lighting and workbench lighting.

Many factors contribute to improved productivity when loading and unloading trucks at your dock. Proper loading dock lighting is one of the most significant requirements for safe and efficient operations. A quality dock light will provide uniform light from the dock door to the back of the trailer while withstanding the abuse it can be subject to in this environment.

Dock Light Features:

Light Output

For an LED dock light, a lumen output of 1000-1200 lumens is optimal. When searching for LED loading dock lights, it is important to consider glare for the lift truck operator. Glare can be reduced through custom optics that offer a cutoff or by using a dimming option.

Durable Construction

In addition to lighting performance, a dock light must be built to withstand impact from fork trucks and shipping pallets. Our dock lights are designed and engineered by Phoenix Lighting. Phoenix is known for manufacturing durable light fixtures that withstand harsh environments. Phoenix uses durable materials in the design of their dock lights including impact resistant polycarbonate lenses, stainless steel mounting brackets, cast aluminum or durable poly carbonate heads. The DLA 2 has an impact rating of IK10.

Additional Features

Some applications for loading dock lights require special consideration. For example, wet location rating for outdoor use or explosion-proof rating for chemical plants, refineries or other hazardous locations. Sometimes a double-strut arm is needed to support a fan. Warehouse Lighting offers dock light options for all these uses and more.

Modular Head and Arm

Choose the dock light head that best meets your needs whether that be an LED head with the DLA 2 or a traditional polymer head with an incandescent lamp. Once you choose your head, you can choose the length and construction of your arm. We offer 24”, 42” and 60” single strut arms and 42” and 60” double strut arms. If you choose a specialty dock light with a flexible arm, wet location rating or explosion-proof rating, the arm is included.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are dock lights?

Dock lights are traditional or LED task lights that are specifically designed for use on a loading dock. The light is attached near the loading dock door and illuminates a truck or trailer to improve efficiency with loading and unloading.

What are the benefits of dock lights?

Dock lights can help improve productivity by providing proper lighting inside the truck or trailer during loading and unloading. A good dock light will also address glare and improve operator comfort for forklift operators. Proper dock lighting will also improve safety around your dock by making sure that operators can see inside the trailer and around the warehouse dock doors.

Why do I need a dock light?

Proper lighting is one of the most significant factors that contributes to improved productivity and safety when loading and unloading trucks at your dock. Docks and warehouses are bustling hubs of industrial activity and transportation. Maintaining the flow of traffic is important for smooth and efficient operations. Good, uniform lighting is important to keep your workers safe and your operations running smoothly.

What are the advantages of a flex arm dock and task light?

A flexible dock light arm allows you to position the arm with ease to direct the light exactly where you need it whether that be the back of a truck or trailer or to illuminate a workbench or specific task. With the FlexPro’s arm design, users can expect an impressive range of motion and a sturdy arm that will remain in place once set in position.

LED dock lights make great task lights. The arm allows the light to be pointed at a specific location and the high lumen output provides the right amount of light to illuminate your task. Power switches on the head or arm make it easy to turn your task light on and off while you’re working. The Phoenix DLA 2 or FlexPro are great examples of LED task lights.
