Find The Right Commercial LED Shop Lights For Your Space

When getting the correct configuration of lighting for a space, the number of lamps and tube length is crucial. At Warehouse Lighting, we offer options with multiple lamps in one high-performing fixture, as well as larger 4 foot LED strip light fixtures and 8 foot LED strip lights to accommodate the space. While tube-style lighting is great for a range of applications, we also have rounded fixtures perfect for tighter spaces in need of abundant lighting. Whether looking for round or tube-style fixtures, find it all right here with our vast selection of industrial LED shop lights and fluorescent light fixtures. Have a question or need additional information regarding LED lighting for shops? Keep reading to learn more or reach out today. Our friendly staff is always happy to help in any way.

What Are Fluorescent and LED Shop Lights?

LED shop light fixtures are overhead lights that instantly turn on, make no noise, and are much brighter than fluorescent shop lights. They are used to illuminate any area in which a task is performed such as your workshop. The right shop light fixture will depend on a few factors such as the available space, the light spread required and the mounting preference. Performing certain tasks with proper illumination requires that these industrial LED shop lights or fluorescent fixtures have the following qualities:

  • High color rendering (a color rendering index (CRI) rating of at least 80)
  • High color temperature (CCT) of 4000K or 5000K
  • High lumen output, which is dependent on the amount of space or fixture mounting height used for the given task
  • Can be surface mounted or hung with hooks, chains or cables

Below are just a few examples of LED shop lights:

Where Are Fluorescent and LED Shop Lights Used?

LED bulbs contain no mercury and are safe to use compared to fluorescent bulbs, which are hazardous when they break. Commercial and industrial LED shop lights and fluorescent lights can be used for both commercial and residential applications. You can also retrofit LED shop lights with one of our LED retrofit kits. Examples include garages, studios, workshops, utility rooms, sheds, storage rooms, auto repair shops, retail stores, grocery stores and small warehouses. Below are some examples of how LED shop lighting can be used:

How long will LED Shop Lights Last?

Commercial LED bulbs have the highest ratings, with some lasting up to 50,000 hours and 8-10 times longer compared to CFL incandescent bulbs or fluorescent tube lamps. The exact duration of your LED bulbs will depend on a few factors. LED light bulbs do get hot. LED lights have a heat sink in the base that dissipates heat, allowing the LED bulb to stay cool and provide longer life.

What Are the Different Types of LED Shop Lighting?

Fluorescent fixtures and LED lights for shops come in a wide variety of shapes and styles of fixtures to suit specific light requirements and coverage needs. Among these shapes and styles are linear strip lights, round low bays and high bays, UFO low bays and high bays, grid-mount low bays and high bays, and wet-rated shop lights. Keep in mind that low bay lights are typically used for areas with a ceiling height under 20 feet and high bays are used for areas with ceilings 20 to 45 feet high. Some linear strip lights can be linked together, running power from one fixture to the next for continuous row mounting. Note that there is no need to hardwire or plug in each LED shop light to the power source, making strip lights ideal for end-to-end ceiling lighting.

What Are the Benefits of LED Shop Lights?

LED lighting technology has developed to the point that it can overcome almost all of the drawbacks of other lighting technologies. The following are just some of the incredible benefits of LED shop lighting.

  • LED shop lighting quality is superior in terms of color rendering, color temperature and lumen output (compared to wattage used).
  • LED shop lights have a much longer lifespan which means they need to be replaced less frequently than other types. This is particularly important when it comes to high bay lighting, which requires lifts or scaffolding to reach the fixtures.
  • While LED shop lighting is more expensive initially upon the point of purchase, you'll save more money in the long term due to the fact that they consume much less energy than conventional lights. This reduces utility costs and energy use over time.
  • LED shop lights have a more concentrated light beam, which allows the light to be directed down and out toward the floor or task area.
